still here......hanging on.........

Yesterday, I spent most of the day
 on the computer.
That is very rare.

 Usually during the school year,
the kids are on the computer all day
 doing various assignments.

Waking Up

It has been a long winter.
 Your kindness and encouragement
have helped me through it.

My journey to find the source and conquer chronic, severe headaches led to answers,
 but no real solutions.

In the meantime,
I've had a very interesting journey through the strange and unsettling side effects of some powerful prescription meds.

The Silent Time

One- sixth of the new year has
passed in silence
on this blog.

Not, of course, in my life.
I told someone that I had nothing to say,
but that isn't really true.
There are just some things that seem to have captured my attention and have taken my coherent thoughts from me.

Remember Pearl

A friend had a book proposal returned
 with the explanation that,

"People today, would not be able to relate to her stories of growing up in the 1940's".

This did not make any sense to me.

If that is true, then what does that say about those who have followed what has been dubbed
"The Greatest Generation"?

When I mentioned that today was

"Pearl Harbor Day",

my daughter said,
"Oh."

I realized then, that I needed to make sure the youngest of my children understands
 what that means.

Carol of Summer

The month was August.
I "thought" I was having contractions.
 Turns out,
I was having a few "mild" ones
that weren't really doing anything.

I was ten days past my due date and feeling very irritated.

Lost! (Not the Show)

On Monday around supper time, the kids and I were leaving the elementary school where we attend Good News Club.
On the way home, I started looking for the small little card holder that I had brought with me which held my license, insurance cards, bank cards, etc......

It Was Gone!

Mom of the Century.....well, not exactly........

Today, I have been a mom for a quarter of a century.

Wow.

When I mentioned this to my middle son, he said he'd never thought of it like that.
There are so many memories.
So much laughter and tears.
So much anxiety and so very many prayers.

God has been faithful.
He always is.
There is never a doubt about that.

From the very beginning, when I first knew the desire to be a mother, God began teaching me to trust Him with my children. It is not an easy thing to learn. But step by step, patiently, He showed me that He is big enough to take care of them. That He is big enough to take care of me. He has made sure that there is no doubt as to Who gets credit for how well my children turn out.

My brave soldier son has hit a milestone.
I am very proud of him.
I am thankful that God gave me this assignment.

......and remember.......I have six other kids to talk about, not counting the wonderful people who decided to be part of this family of their own free will....

Happy Birthday, Son!

What's My Assignment?

Several years ago, my husband sent an email to me about a woman who told the Lord that she would do anything and go anywhere that He wanted.

Of course, she was thinking about being a missionary to the other side of the world or making huge sacrifices in some other significant way of service.
The Lord told her that He wanted her to be in charge of a group of people , none of whom the world thought very important, and that she would not get paid or noticed. She eagerly agreed and wondered where He was sending her. He told her it was where she was already. At home.

Her "people group" was her children.
She was disappointed.
